Who is Maureen Connolly?

I am a natural therapist with expertise in kinesiology, applied physiology, acupressure, vibrational medicine and learning enhancement. I have been closely involved with personal development and health improvement since the early 1980’s, and continue to explore the many ways of healing which exist in our amazing world.

I also have a background in business – both as an employee and as an employer. I’ve lived and worked in the country for about half my life, and in cities for the other half. This enables me to understand the challenges faced by people in many different situations and with different cultural backgrounds.

My twin passions are the importance of breathing and the importance of giving children the greatest possible access to their natural learning ability. These are fundamental to good health and high self-esteem and when we have these two, happiness and the joy of learning naturally follow.

I hope that I can contribute to your health, happiness and joy of learning, by providing helpful insights, private consultations, seminars and workshops. Click on Contact to send an email or phone for an appointment.

How can MC natural therapies help you?

Improved health – physical, emotional, and mental
The body doesn’t know the difference between physical, emotional and mental stresses.

Stress at one level affects all the other levels to some degree. By looking for and addressing the underlying cause of health problems, I can help you to improve your overall well-being.

Self-understanding
When you understand what makes you ‘tick’ you have the power to change what doesn’t ‘work’ in your life.

Clear thinking
Stress can really addle your brain! By learning about where you hold your stress and how to release it and manage it, you will find that you can think more clearly most of the time.

Improved memory and learning skills
Stress of some sort is usually what gets in the way of your memory. Learning is a natural desire so when it’s difficult, it means that there is stress present in the learner.

Improved reading ability
Reading is one of the most complex tasks we undertake. It is not a natural function and requires the co-ordination of the parts of the brain that manage sight and hearing, with those that process both images and detail.

If you struggle with reading or remembering what you just read, you’ve probably got a breakdown in communication between these functions. Communication can be restored.

Improved math skills
Many people have a stronger affinity with ‘the big picture’ than with the detail and logic of mathematics. As children, we often feel that we are a total failure at mathematics every time we get a wrong answer or cannot explain how we arrived at an answer. Each sense of failure compounds that belief and creates stress patterns that are reactivated every time mathematical problems are presented.

By releasing this negative patterning, both children and adults can have better access to the brain functions necessary for understanding and processing mathematics. This strengthens the communication between the logic centres in the brain, enabling a more objective approach to the tasks.

Who can benefit?

Everyone! Men, women, children, teenagers! Life throws up challenges to us at all stages of our growth and development as human beings.

Sometimes these challenges cause us to have stress responses, depending on our experience of life. Constant stress manifests in many different ways – physical, emotional and mental.

Maintaining optimal health is an ongoing process. By learning how and why our bodies respond to stressful situations, we can become more aware and more capable of looking after ourselves and our families in a way that will reduce our stress response and its effects on our body. Then we can live healthier and more vibrant lives.

Men
Many men are reluctant to seek the help of ‘natural’ or ‘alternative’ therapists when they are under stress or suffering from physical problems. They often think that it is a ‘feminine’ thing to do. With muscle monitoring it is easy for men, often with a healthy scepticism about such things, to realize that when stress is released, their major muscles immediately reflect the change.

Women
Women have their own challenges in life and, if they are wives and mothers, often take on the emotional responsibility of the whole family. As well as addressing current health issues, having an understanding third party with whom to discuss their concerns, and the time and space to fully relax and resolve emotional issues within themselves, is sometimes all that is needed. Unresolved stress can eventually result in physical health issues.

Teenagers
‘Teenage’ is one of the most exciting and bewildering stages of life. Our identity as an independent person is being developed at the same time as major chemical and physical changes are taking place in our body.

The stress of finding one’s place in the social structure, choosing subjects to study which we believe to be setting the scene for the rest of our lives, falling in and out of love, and sorting through the ever-increasing volume of available information, all hit us at the same time. Today’s teenagers are experiencing a faster rate of change in the external world than ever before – and a shrinking employment market that makes choice of career a mine-field.

Performance and exam stress can cause havoc in some young people, creating all manner of emotional and physical problems such as chronic fatigue, frequent infections, and panic attacks. Many teenagers benefit greatly from focused stress release and a new perspective on the issues in their lives.

Children
It is often forgotten that as children we are emotional sponges, making decisions about ourselves based only on information we sense, or on misinterpretation of what we hear from other children or adults. Stress can be just as present in children as in adults. In fact, many life-long stress responses begin right here!

Most children from about 5 or 6 years old respond very well to my approach. Highly sensitive children can feel the changes in their bodies as stress is released and energy redistributed. They usually love the ‘tuning forks’ and the ‘magic’ of the way their bodies change (e.g. muscles that were ‘falling over’ and are now ‘strong’). Younger children may need the assistance of a parent or other adult.

How would you benefit?

More energy
It takes energy to store stress in the body, so when the stress is released, you will find that you have more energy available to enjoy life on a day-to-day basis.

Higher self-esteem
Viewing yourself as a valuable human being, with short-comings and imperfections just like everyone else, enables you to be less critical of yourself and stop feeling that others see only your short-comings and imperfections.

More confidence
Higher self-esteem leads to increased confidence in your unique abilities and value in the world.

Lower stress levels
Learning to manage your stress enables you to reduce the amount and frequency of your ‘stress response’ to things that are out of your control.

More enjoyment
It’s hard to enjoy life when you are weighed down by aches and pains, uncomfortable emotions and negative thoughts. As you learn more about what makes you tick, and how you can change your reactions to the things that happen in life, you will find more joy in the small pleasures of life.

Better relationships
We can’t change anyone else – we can only change our response to them. When you learn more about what makes you ‘tick’, you will begin to understand more about what makes the other people in your life ‘tick’.

Realising that each of us has our own ‘history’ and differing reactions to the same circumstances, makes it easier to understand another person’s point of view

Taking charge of your life
When you know what causes your problems, you are half-way to solving them. You can take charge of your own life and learn to make new choices about how you will deal with life’s challenges.
